Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had some advice on something I could homebrew for a character.
My group is about to start a new 5e campaign, and I am playing a college of spirits bard. Part of my character’s backstory is her realizing at a young age she could connect with spirits, and when she was older she started holding seances or channeling the spirit of passed love ones for people as a way to make money. I thought it would be cool to incorporate this into the game in some mechanical way, as nothing in the rules as written for the subclass play into this. I also want to be very careful that I’m not trying to make my character super op or make the build really unbalanced. Really it would be more for RP purposes- like maybe it could something that could be useful for actual gameplay sometimes but not something that becomes a crutch or a kind of easy shortcut for problems.
My DM suggested taking ritual caster as a feat and instead of learning two first level spells I would just have access to augury, which I think is a good idea but the spell would probably have to be reflavored to fit the purpose I have in mind. Any reflavoring suggestions or other homebrew suggestions? Thanks in advance!
