It came a day early.. we filed for divorce (her choice not mine) in early June. Uncontested.. we were told we probably wouldn’t have to go to court because we figured everything out between us. A couple weeks later we get notified that we need to appear in court July 3 (tomorrow) because my “wife” missed one line on her FA. We corrected things last week and I was prepared to go to court and hear (or not hear) the worst news. Mind you, I’ve already moved out. At work today I get an email from my lawyer saying I didn’t have to go to court tomorrow, it’s over, the judge approved the divorce. I lost it at work and left early. Married for 27 years, together for 32, four kids.. apparently I just wasn’t the one anymore.. I’ve known this day was coming but wasn’t expecting it until tomorrow at the earliest.. it’s hard.. I thought I had another night to prepare myself and even that was taken away from me. It’s unreal that now I have to say “ex-wife.” Not in a million years did I think I’d be here at this moment.
