We plan to sit our kids (10,8.5,4) down over the weekend and break the news.

I will be the one to deliver the “speech”. I’ve thought a lot about how to do this & read a ton of articles on how to deliver the news.

I decided to put it down on paper & here is what I came up with.

We all know mom and dad of been having problems. We have tried to fix that, but things aren’t working out. Mom and I love you all very much. Nothing will ever change that. We will always be here for you. We will always be your mom and dad, we just won’t be married anymore. You are amazing kids. It is not your fault this is happening, it is ours – mom and dad’s. Even though some things are going to change; there are things that never change. We will always be family, we will always be there for you, and no matter what we will always love you with all of our hearts.

Then ask them what questions they have and try to answer them.
