As I was watching TV tonight in bed with one leg hanging off the side, I looked over at all the room still available to me. It's been more than 8 years since she left and I've been sleeping alone. I remember that once I accepted the fact that there was no reconciliation, around the same time I stopped wearing my ring (sidenote: I'll still catch myself trying to click the ring on the car door if I'm driving with the windows down, or I'll try to turn it on my finger as a nervous gesture), I started sleeping in the middle of our bed. I don't remember how long I did that, but I'm not there anymore. I now sleep on one side of the bed...and honestly I can't remember if it was the side I slept on before she left.
What do you do? Do you never stop sleeping on your side? Did you claim your SO's side as your own? Or did you lay claim to the ENTIRE bed?
