I'm 40, as is my wife, and we're now going through a separation/divorce after nearly 15 married years and 20 together. Half of our lives. My entire adult identity has been shaped around this person. Who should have been my forever person if I had gotten a handle on long-standing resentment and acting out without meaningful change after being given multiple chances. We don't have kids so that's one thing we're thankful for not having to deal with throughout this process.
But I digress.
I'm trying to build a support network and hoping there might be a way to meet others who are around my age, splitting from a similarly long relationship to their best friend and freaking out about what Single You even looks like as you haven't known that person since before you could legally drink (in the US at least, lol).
I'm guessing that organizing a virtual Meet Up based on these shared experiences may not be doable, but maybe someone here has insight. My mental health is on a state of the art roller coaster right now and I need all the help I can get to be able to continue to excel in my career and in other parts of my life despite this very low, rough patch.
