What kind of activities did you do to try to put yourself back together?
I hadn't been single since I was a teenager so I mentally went back to the place of being about 14. I even moved into the same trailer park my mom moved into when I was a teenager, when my parents were separated. My divorce (and marriage) mimicked my parents in a lot of ways so it was like the universe was telling me to look at that part of my life.
Anyways, I had been interested in witchcraft, tarot, astrology, etc at that age and that's been a big comfort to me as I've gone through my divorce. I had completely neglected my spiritual side through my marriage but it really saved me these past few years. Also I have a teen daughter and I think sharing that with her has helped her through these past few years that were really awful for our whole family.
I suddenly had time alone for the first time in 23 years, and I needed clothes besides leggings and hoodies for dates so I started going to consignment shops and finding cute clothes, again things that were similar to what I wore as a teen before my life was consumed with kids and a stressful marriage. Felt overwhelmed with trying to figure out clothes and hair and makeup so I fell right back to what I knew worked when I was a teen lol (wavy hair-finally learned how to embrace my waves, big silver hoops and dark eye makeup and that's it lol)
And my kids have mostly controlled the TV for years, so I took my kid free time to rewatch a bunch of movies I loved as a teen.
I was a teen mom so I think there was plenty of healing to be done there and these things helped. I also reconnected with 4 friends from middle school and highschool, they came into my life exactly when I needed them ðŸ˜
I've done some yoga classes, had reiki done once, started doing mushrooms (highly recommend), started smoking weed (again highly recommend lol), started meditating and going for a lot of walks and listening to podcasts about trauma and such. All of these things have helped me get back to who I was and help me transition to this new phase in my life.
What type of stuff did you discover/rediscover?
