How Do You Cope with Not Seeing the Children Full Time?

I'll go from being a SAHM being their primary caregiver every day (STBXH works constantly and is never home), to only seeing them 50% of the time.
Also, he is quite impatient and angry with them a lot and I won't be there to shield them from it.
How do I reconcile this?
