Better to just file and start the process, or try to agree on terms before filing?

Post Body

I met with an acquaintance to pick her brain about divorce and that was her advice— to go ahead and file on my own. Her ex dragged his feet and made the process way longer than it should’ve been simply because he’s not good at administration and paperwork, and I could totally see this happening for me. The court will mandate mediation regardless since we have minor children.

I have an appointment to consult with an attorney, but wanted to ask— is this a common experience? Would others recommend filing individually before mediation?
