Do I need to save all the recruits in Arhu’s Failed Experiment quest?

Every time I attempt this one, the recruits keep getting fried by the SparkMaster before I can kill it or the two mages, I do use the remote, but it is usually too little too late to help.
I’m doing a lone wolf run, so I don’t have four people to help out.
