I've decided to go with a 105 setup on my E5 Base Diverge. I'm doing 80-90% road riding these days and still enjoy the option of riding crushed gravel, but I'm certainly not chasing swampy chunder these days. Here's my problem: I'm completely uneducated when it comes to gearing, etc.
Here's what I'm looking for: Guidance so that I can purchase the right components.
Questions:
- Looks like the 50/34 crank is the way to go. Am I correct in looking at the 170mm FC-R7000 set?
- Do I have to change out my mechanical brakes for hydro? I'm a simpleton and actually like my mechanical brakes that came stock.
- What size cassette should I be looking at? 11/34 with the same FC-R7000 set? Or am I limited to the 11/32 cassette as noted on the Shimano website?
- What should I be looking at for a good, reliable BB when I do this conversion?
- Is there anything else I need to be looking at here in terms of components?
- Will I need to change my wheel set to accommodate the new cassette?
I think that's enough for now. Please let me know if I need to be looking at a different iteration of the 105 for this bike or if I'm on the right track. Thanks for putting up with me...this is all making my head spin a bit.
