Hey there everyone. I've been daily driving Linux for over 2 years after essentially jumping in 'cold turkey.' I started out using Mint, but switched to Ubuntu last year for one simple but annoying reason. Basically, I need to have base packages newer than the LTS-based nature of Mint allows for things i like to play around with such as machine learning and emulation. The normal 6 month release schedule of standard Ubuntu serves me well.
However, I simply do not like canonical or their philosophy in comparison to Mint team. I enjoyed how easy it was to avoid using "modern" package solutions and stick to traditional deb packages, and in general, the 'vibe' was just much more in line with my personal values.
I'm curious if any of you know a solution that can be 'best of both worlds' where I have an apt-based (i have no interest in switching package managers) distribution along the lines of Linux Mint,, but with a 6 month release cycle for system packages/versions. I use cinnamon, but don't mind having to install it after-the-fact. I used Ubuntu for nearly a year with Cinnamon, before i started using the new unofficial Ubuntu Cinnamon flavor.
I'm curious to hear whatever input y'all have, and if you need more info about my priorities and needs, just let me know
