Post Body

Originally was going to go in June 2020. Went Feb 17-18, 2022 instead. Took three adults and two kids ages 6 11. We bought our tickets through a third party that got us a 10% discount.

We got a refund on Maxpass in $200 of gift cards.

Interestingly, they didn’t seem to have removed Photopass from the tickets when Maxpass ended so we got the photos for free. We saw the Disney photographers just standing around at multiple places and the few lines moved fast.

Our flight costs went way up. Peak summer 2020 our flight was $1265. Winter 2022 without spring break premiums was $1835. This is coming from the Midwest.

Hotel was slightly down for better. Both were three nights. We were staying at the Candycane for $735 for one room with a temp portable bed and moved to the closer Desert Inn right across from the entrance with a fold out bed in a second attached mini room for $650. I forget their cost in 2020 but it wasn’t that price. That’s a great deal on a room.

Without the mask mandate, on day one mask coverage was 10-20% depending on the location we were at. The smaller kid rides was more towards 20%.

We didn’t buy Genie . Didn’t have enough rides on it the kids were interested in.

We showed up at 7:30am and rode as many rides as possible right up front. We we aiming for a park experience more than a rides experience. We did the LL rides we wanted to in an area first thing in the morning and looked at ride line times nearby for what we rode after. We took advantage of no line items like Lincoln, the cartoons, visiting the island, seeing characters. We did shopping during peak crowds. Mobile food order worked well enough to get food faster.

Buying a large locker was well worth it.

The Star Wars area is coming up on three years old, two years open. It’s outstandingly well done. We went just to see it, the ride lines were way longer than we wanted to stand in. We did build a droid which was a nice experience.

The crowds were there, but they didn’t hinder us enjoying the park. We weren’t forced into every ride line being an hour or food times being hours out due to over crowding.

There was only one closure we were unhappy about, we wanted to ride the monorail. We decided having some experience like Fantasmic, the parades, etc would have been nice but we still had plenty to fill a day.
