As someone who grew up loving both Zack and Cody and On Deck, I’m surprised that people found On Deck to be a poor follow up. I love On Deck! I think in some aspects it’s better than Zack and Cody (overall I’d say Zack and Cody was the better show but On Deck definitely did some things better than Zack and Cody).
I’ve been scouring Reddit trying to just find discussions about the franchise and I’ve surprisingly seen some people say they disliked On Deck. I think piece of criticism I can I agree with is that the show was a lot less grounded than Zack and Cody but other than that I think On Deck was a fantastic follow up. I thought the writing was funny (I’m grown but the writing and some of the jokes in the show still crack me the fuck up like they did when I was a kid watching the show on the air) the acting got better, I love the side characters like Woody and I thought it was unique premise that worked out well even though it could’ve been a disaster if the writing sucked.
This post ain’t dissing Zack and Cody, obviously it was one of the best Disney Channel shows period but On Deck definitely deserves the love because it was a very solid show on it’s own. Only made this post because I’ve been rewatching the show as of recently.
