Hello, I have many directions I can go when it comes to computers and art. I was hoping someone could shed light and suggest a recommendation on a path that would seem to suit me based on what I type right here.
I'm a creative type, done art and music in school. Been wanting to maybe make video games. Made a few WIPs in batch. Done over 40 bits and pieces of works of writings from non fiction to sci fi thriller to supernatural to fantasy to comedy movie scripting. I have tried to make my own graphic novel and even a comic or three. 2 being original works and one being basically fan art. I also have made two rough cut albums of "music" in the past.
I have ideas for game dev, how to implement them and execute them I am lost on. I have no formal education and at this point I don't see myself going back to school in person.
Thing is all these creative pursuits and I feel pulled in one direction then the next. It gets "too much" to the point I actually get headaches and mindgraines in ways I have never felt before.
Like writing was my last passion project until I woke up with a page worth of work ready to write down. the sheer enormous task of keeping your brain open but not too open for the nasties to get in was very...tiring. After many instances of breaking point I knew I had to calm down on the writing. Thats not to say I dont enjoy writing...I do, its just that its very taxing. Especially when I dont have a good option of someone to soundboard with.
Before writing and current now due to being taught. Music is another avenue of expression i feel somewhat in tune with on the occassion, but then on other times am utterly hopeless. I prefer acoustic guitar mostly, electric lead is for fun and less stress to make sounds ring out. And piano (keys), harmonica and didge are others i have. I have tried Fruity Loops amongst others such as Garageband (in school) but those two Im fond of over others I dont see worth mentioning. I made an album of recordings I made with my phone. I have tried a sound gen app for game dev but havent really explored sound for games as of yet. I see it might be a bit backwards way of dev opposed to writing or drawing sketches.
Game dev. I made a few text based games in batch. Was going to remaster one in JS but abandoned it and between computers, didnt have my resources synched for a better streamlined processing. I have some ideas that nearly came to fruition with unity. but some of the player input functionality I was at a loss at how to implement.
Lastly Drawing, it was a talent I had off my parents. Although over the years of illness and neglect I just...lost this ability. It could come back, but like all these points I have made, they all have a cost of me going down one or another pathways.
So, WRITING, MUSIC, GAME DEV, DRAWING etc, these are the instruments of my expressive creative palette.
Im having trouble negotiating said pathways and navigating towards success in one or more areas.
I just cannot make up my mind alone, I need to discuss, maybe with people that are of at least one of these areas and can give me a glimpse into what it is they do, and how it'd translate in my own creative efforts. Please help.
