If you will only date people with a certain skin color are you being racist?

I said that people who will only date people who are Asian, for instance, are being racist. I got dragged pretty hard for saying that people who wanted to filter out ethnicities when they are looking at profiles on a dating app are being racist.

For instance: if I pull up my dating app and I want to exclude people who live more than 50 miles away, that's not racist. But if I want to exclude black people, that is racist.

Seems straightforward to me.

Edit: gender is not race, stop getting them confused to make a point. The analogy doesn't hold, no one is calling a gay man a bigot because he won't date a straight woman.
