Having trouble installing discord.py

I'm using python 3.8.6, and installing discord.py with pip always errors out, not sure as to why. What I've tried:
- I updated python to python 3.8.6
- I reinstalled python multiple times
- made sure pip was up to date
I've looked online in a few places and can't seem to find a solution.
As for information about the error code, It says that the command errored out with exit status 1. The error always happens when it reaches 'installing build dependencies'.
Hopefully someone can help me out with this, thanks in advance.
