It was done.
I had stayed quiet as you and your men had stormed the palace - taunted my father with his loss, promised to take everything from him, and delivering. While you looked him in his own dungeon you let him know that his refusal to surrender had cost many lives, and that he'd return the favor. You promised him to slaughter the remaining elves in his service, you promised him to let him wither away in his cell, you promised him to defile his daughter over and over and over again for his stubbornness.
It wasn't surprising. I had heard of the brutal ways of humankind, had heard how they slaughtered and raped the elves in their conquest to take the continent.
However - you never fulfilled the more brutal parts of your promise. You did swiftly dispose of those that dared to defy you, but you didn't murder innocents for the fun of it. You didn't touch me. Instead, you locked me in this palace - free to roam within these walls, but not further away. Always with your guards by my side.
I hated you for what you had done to my Kingdom in your quest to conquer it. Many nights I had tried to plan your murder.
But I was no warrior. I knew I could never best you in battle. So I remembered the weapon only a lady has - and I made a very different plan.
Your character is a human warrior that set out to conquer the elvish lands. Not out of hatred, but out of necessity - while the elves reigned for thousands of years, they had pushed back humankind in the less desirable lands. While these had grown more and more fruitless in the past decades, the humans didn't really have any other choice but to fight back to secure their survival. And now your character managed to overthrow the first elvish kingdom. Rumor has it, that your character is a brutal warlord with no sense of decency or morality, and he has no interesting in correcting that. However, he isn't someone who is cruel because it's entertaining to him, he is someone who had to fight for his - and his people - survival for as long as he has lived. So, while he is hardened and cruel at times, he isn't as bad as he is made out to be. All he truly desires is to serve his people. However, that doesn't mean he won't kill anyone who stands in his way.
My character isn't what she seems like at first, either. Said to be one of the most beautiful elves in the land she is supposed to be everything a princess should be - kind, demure, soft, innocent. However, while she does have her soft streaks, she's also cunning and clever. She isn't as selfless, though - there is a thirst of power and sense of survival that neither humans nor elves would expect from her.
I want to play a tug of war with these - powerplays, scheming, an unexpected love story. My character knows she can't kill your character. And even if she did, that would still leave his men to kill her. What she *can* do though is try to manipulate and seduce the new king. And who knows, maybe both of them could find love in the most unexpected ways?
