I was catching up on some DPP and DSW reading tonight, and caught an announcement from u/SpitfireMouse posted in DPP. In part, she writes:

It has come to our attention that a person(s) is proactively contacting people from DirtyPenPals soliciting copies of penpal exchanges for presumed application of creating adult chat bots.

Please apply standard online safety

Some options you can take are to ignore the message, politely decline, or to “block” the person by using the block feature which is available at the bottom of each private message. If you feel that they are pushing/harassing please feel free to use the “report” feature to report them to the admins. As moderators we can stop them from posting or commenting on DPP but we can’t stop them from contacting people via PM.

Figured I'd give everybody a heads-up in case we had folks who hadn't been there in the last couple days. (It looks like she posted this yesterday.)
