It is no longer included in search results and normal feeds (front page, hot posts, subreddit posts, etc). It remains visible only via the author's post history.
Instead of a theme this week, we wanted to do a little housekeeping.
Welcome!
We've had a lot of new subscribers (over 40 in the last week or so including a huge spike on Friday). So to those new users we say welcome! We hope you are enjoying your time here so far. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments. There are a few things we would like to point out.
Rules:
Check out the sidebar for the rules of /r/DirtyStoryWriting. For expanded explanations see the wiki page. Please note that posts must include a story starter. This means that part of your post needs to be "in-character" or 3rd person narrative of what it going on. Feel free to include all the out of character information you want, just make sure readers can see an example of your writing style in the post itself. Also, we haven't had trouble with it for a while (at least since the last time we took a wrench to it), but automod will sometimes remove a post claiming it doesn't meet the 400 word minimum. If this happens to you and you definitely have over 400 words, please don't delete it and send a message to modmail. If you don't delete it all we have to do is approve it and you're good to go.
How does this place work?
If you came here from /r/DirtyPenPals then you know how things work around here. If not, it's pretty simple. Have a story idea in mind and want to find someone to write with? Just submit a new text post and get writing. Make sure you tag your title ([M4F], [F4M], [A4A], etc.) and follow the guidelines in the rules. Include a story starter, some basics on general direction you are looking to go with it, and some of your likes and dislikes. It's a good idea to read what others are posting to get a feel for it.
Don't have a story idea in mind? No problem. Take a look at the posts and find something that interests you. Type up a reply and send it via PM to the author. Try to include anything that they requested in their original post.
New Options
We've recently added a few options that you may have noticed in the sidebar. You can now tag posts as Meta, Share, and Event rather than as a partner seeking post.
Meta:
Anything that stimulates discussion on the community or what we do here. Questions you have for other users on how they do something, tips and tricks on how you do something, or anything else that is helpful to the community. Do not use this as a place to rant, whine, bitch, or complain. If you are not promoting productive discussion we will remove your post.
Share:
Use this tag if you finish a story with a partner and want to share it with the community. Please keep in mind that both writers must agree to have the story shared.
Event:
Event tags are to be used for events created and run by the users of the sub. If you aren't sure if your idea constitutes an event, just send us a message and we'll be happy to go over it with you.
Request
We would love input from you, the users or /r/DirtyStoryWriting! What is working for you? What is not working for you? Are there any features you would like to see? We are also always looking for Theme of the Week ideas. We want to make this subreddit the best it can be for you!
