Hey everyone! Instead of a theme of the week this week we are going to do a group project. It is going to be a round robin style writing project. This will be different from what you are usually here for, but that's okay - it will be good practice for your story writing skills. You won't control a specific character, just a time slice of a story we'll all put together.

I'll get us started:

The flight seemed to go quickly for James and Sara. Though they had never met before, they had clicked from the moment they sat down next to each other. They hadn't stopped talking since, about their work, their lives, their hobbies, their tastes in food and music. Before they knew it the plane was descending and they could see the Hawaiian islands rising above the sparkling water below.
They said their goodbyes as the plane came to a stop at the gate, James silently cursing himself for not asking for her number. That would be creepy, wouldn't it?
At baggage claim their eyes met several times, each time bringing a smile to their faces. But after Sara collected her bags she looked around, frowning slightly to herself when she couldn't find him. Her thoughts turned to the week ahead of her. Seven days in paradise, no worries, no responsibilities, just relaxing.
After finding the shuttle bus to her hotel she handed her luggage over to the driver and stepped on board while he loaded her bags. She froze in place and quickly smiled.
"Hey, stranger!" she said, sitting down next to James. He looked up from his phone, startled. Immediately, they were right back in their conversation. They talked about their plans, both of them on vacation, and the beauty of the island as it passed by their window. Checking in at the hotel they agreed to meet for dinner at the hotel restaurant that night.
Walking down the hallway to his room, James stopped at his room and heard a chuckle behind him. He turned to see Sara sliding her key into the door of the room right next to his. They smiled at each other and went into their respective rooms, both wondering just how interesting things were going to get on this trip.

Here's the catch: you'll only get to see the installment immediately before yours. Can we say continuity problems? Sure, but that will be half the fun! Just try to leave the person after you a hook to write from. Keep it light, fun, and sexy. Vanilla with sprinkles, as they say. Use the characters I've introduced, introduce additional characters, you have a whole island to explore. Just keep it in 3rd person. And try to keep the word count above 400 words - no quickies here.

So now we need help from you. Who wants to take a turn? Sign up below in the comments. Once we have a group interested I will update this post with a roster and the turn order. Ideally, you'll have your part done within 24 hours so the next person can get started. After 48 hours we might have to skip your turn and add you to the end of the line.

When you have finished your installment just send it to the next person on the list. Only send them your installment, not what you received from the previous person. Send your installment to modmail so we can pass it on to the next writer and start putting together a share. Once everyone is finished I'll share the final product (aka, free advertising for your writing skills).

EDIT 2: We're going to go ahead and get started. If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry! You can still sign up while we make our way through the lists and I'll just add you to the end. We are going to have two lists so that we aren't taking a week and a half to do this. Plus, it will be interesting to see the different directions each story goes! So the first person in each group can go ahead and get started! I'll keep this list updated so we know where we are.
