[Mod] One week later, how are we doing?

Post Body

It's been one week since the sub has seen its first posts. Time for a status check. We saw an explosion of subscribers after the ad on DPP. Page views and new subscribers obviously dropped in the following days, but have actually remained pretty steady since day two. New posts have declined significantly. In a perfect world that would mean users were finding long-term partners on their first try and were busy writing - but I'm going to assume this is not a perfect world.

So, how are things going?

I've gotten a few messages from people, whose posts have been automatically removed due to word count. I've tinkered with auto-mod and I believe I've sorted it out. However, if your post is removed and you are sure it has enough words, send a message to modmail but please don't delete your post. It's much easier for me to look it over and approve it if I can still see it on my end.

Is there anything you would like to see happen on this sub? Events, themes, workshops, you name it. I would like to see more community involvement, more subscribers, and more posting. How do we make that happen? And if you know the secret to fixing the M4/F4 imbalance let me know. ;)

I'm going to be looking at the rules this weekend and hopefully fleshing them out into something more specific. This is mainly on the "what constitutes effort" front. Some of the reports I've gotten on this matter have been too subjective, which I blame on the vagueness of the rules.

Also, I may be looking to add at least one person to the moderation team. There isn't a drastic need yet - traffic isn't that high - but I think it would be better if it didn't look like a dictatorship with one person making all the decisions. Watch for more information on this.

Lastly, if you didn't find this sub through DPP, how did you find us? Maybe we can explore some other avenues of marketing the sub.

If you have any questions, comments, words of praise, or complaints, please comment on this post or send a message to modmail. Thanks!
