"Thank you again, Mester Comet!"
Word traveled quickly of a mage dressed in dark padded leathers that had singlehandedly dispatched of foul voidrift creatures that were plaguing the small town of Durshire. Calling on the dark magicks within ones body to lay waste to foes, manipulating the elements with darkness, leaving behind some destruction was the nature of void magicks and so was born the Black Mage for out of necessity to fight and protect. And for such a one like Mester Comet, no different. Durshire had been Mester Comet's home for some time long ago, and to see it almost wrought to ruin broke the mage's heart. It was a little forest town away from the borders of the Great Fae Queen, and too Fae like for the protection of King Sigur; so it employed sellswords for wandering protection and in time became known as an Adventurer's Guild.
Many Mester Comets' had come and gone, for such was the nature of mortals and Black Mages. In time the dark arts extended far beyond just the touch of man. And others bore the mantel to harness void magicks into their practices.
Where a paladin may use the powers of Source magicks they are bound by laws and pacts of lawful nature, every paladin has a creed and to break from it is to be Oathbreaker. In time the Oathbreakers decided to take their Source magicks and enhance with with those from the Void. Away in secret for the violation of tainting Source magicks was death, the Dark Knights were born. To defend those who cannot, whatever means necessary...
A Black Mage dressed in padded leathers with a wide brimmed hat to match stood near a petition board looking at some of the jobs. Most seemed to be labor focused, not that the little mage would've minded but they didn't have the right clothes for it at the moment. From a distance a round jolly desk attendant spotted the small Black Mage called out their nickname.
"Comet! Just the cat I wanted to see!"
Erend's voice was still just as loud as it was some years back without. The man couldn't help but laugh a bit seeing the bushy dark brown tail of the Black Mage puffy up much like a startled cat. Eventually the little mage made their way to the front desk, one bright blue eye staring up at him. Nowadays Black Mages wore whatever suited them, but in the days of yore everything was concealed to make it harder to see their faces in combat. 'Still committed to the aesthetic,' Erend thought remembering the first time he had seen Comet come up to their desk.
"What is it, Erend?" a soft voice addressed him. It was a miracle he had heard it, considering the way Comet's collar covered the lower portion of their face.
"So, you're the only other void caster here-"
"Out with it Erend, please..."
"There's a Dark Knight needing a job. They happen to be an adventurer guild member as well from... uh, I forgot where. But they're looking for someone with a Source ranking, void specialty was their requirement. Asked for you by name."
"Where to?"
"Details are with the client. Didn't you say you wanted another adventure, Comet? Just don't wear your hat when you meet with 'em."
Comet soon found their way to the Dragon Hoarde's Inn, a large stone and wooden building known for its musical shows and food. Outside it looked like a simple enough tavern but inside it boasted some of the finest furnishing. Thick curtains, large windows, plush upholstery for the dining booths and gold candle sticks neatly placed around the dining floor. The bar was made with polished dark wood from the dark elves who lived underground in Faloumir. The place was ridiculously wealthy just at a ground level, but it made sense as it was a common place at the heart of commerce and travel. Following the little note Erend had written Comet was guided to the second floor and stooped at a wooden door with the number '104' in plated gold, or something close to it.
With a knock the door opened, and startled the skittish cat mage.
The Dark Knight looked down to find two bright blue eyes staring up at them. A mikani as the race itself was called. Distinct cat ears and a long bushy cat tail, human in appearance save those two distinct features, and the large round pupils told the Dark Knight this was someone from the Moon Clan. Yet it was hard to tell, wearing an old padded wizard's coat from gods know what century it covered half their face, but the distinct black tear drop shaped tattoo in the middle of the forehead was proof enough. 'A mikani from the moon clan, it’s definitely Comet," the knight thought to themselves for a moment, it was funny but the knight had pictured Comet being taller. It was hard to tell what the mikani was, male or female; but that was the nature of a black mage sometimes to obscure themselves in anyway even forsaking their names. Nowadays it was extreme to do that, since the life-threatening wars were over, but Comet must have their reasons for doing so. So too did the Dark Knight.
Comet found themselves blushing a little, some redness showing through their warm brown skin.
"I thought you'd be taller," the dark knight said laughing. "I'll meet you downstairs and we can talk somewhere a little more privately."
"It might be better outside..." Comet's voice was so soft that the dark knight had to lean down just a little to hear.
In leaning down the knight noticed Comet's blue highlights in their dark brown hair. Up close like that to Comet was something else, memories were stirring in the knight’s thoughts. The cat was a little tired, but there was a softness in those blue eyes that should've been hardened by the life of walking in the void. A scar across the front of their face, from the start of the right brow to the opposite of their cheekbone, and another smaller scar that once was a cut across the cheek. Neither were strangers to hardship. For a split second Comet noticed a change in expression on the knight’s face. Was it sorrow? It was only for a moment before a more friendlier expression came through.
"Meet me up at the Bluebell hills, I'll be there with some ales for us and I can tell what you more about the job."
And so Comet waited at Bluebell hills, watching the lunar moths dance around the glowing bluebell flowers that seemed to come alive under the cover of night.
It was meant to be a simple job from the knight’s perspective, find the Black Mage using the moniker ‘Comet’ and make them pay for their crimes. It was a sum of coin that the town of Iydl Mhea had paid, a little rundown waterwill village. The acting elder had given the knight the money and the task, a pained expression in their face all while talking. A small depressing village...
Yet something felt off, it wasn’t the first time Comet and the Dark Knight had met. It was some years back when the knight was still green and unsure of their path, just a simple sellsword. Two similar in age and yet Comet was as brilliant as their moniker with spells. Comet of course looked a little different, hair as white as the moonlight with wisps of blue, still the same padded leathers and markings on their face, sans scars. And the small accounts of Comet the knight had heard about in passing up to this point had been nothing but praises. There was literally just one Black Mage named Comet.
It was not unheard of for people who dabbled in void magicks to finally lose their minds. At the same time, there were those who wanted such coveted monikers as well. Comet had been Comet since the knight had met them during a job, and such a name was hard to come by. It wasn’t so much just a moniker but a title reserved for a Black Mage of exceptional skill, but hardly many achieved it, even less so now. It was similar to how the Dark Knights ranked in their own systems, but as time went on it was easier to just make up a moniker when becoming a fully fledged Dark Knight.
“... either Comet is finally losing it, or someone’s trying to get rid of her,” the Knight muttered, corked glass bottles of ale in hand as they walked up Bluebell hills.
There was only one way to find out, get the mage drunk enough.
"... and so those few who walk in the darkness act as beacons for the lost. But hold fast your comrades when walking from the light, for darkness knows no alliance." - Izultr 'Void Art Chronicles'
Hey everyone! I haven't written anything in a while now, but I kind of want to focus more on characters and world building. I love romance, love smut, but sometimes I get a little burnt out by it.
If you squint hard enough you can see some dnd and ffxiv stuff in there but we can always build on top of that.
Ultimately it's gonna be an adventure where our Dark Knight and Black Mage realize they love and care for each other... and bump uglies. They might even actually hold hands, omg.
"Comet" whose real name is Rowan, is a mikani (a cat girl basically). Comet's 5'3 and behind the reserved soft spokenness is a spontaneous ball of energy sometimes, mixed with a bit of angst. Brown skin, short brown hair with blue highlights, tail and cat ears of the same matching color, and petite with some shapely hips. Comet is Comet when it comes to gender, despite being born a woman. Underneath the clothes it might surprise people to see the kinds of tattoos that Comet has under the collar, it's not very mage like but Comet is full of surprises. The white hair was a phase and they switched to tattoos lol.
Comet learned the ways of the sword and lance and even dabbled a little in practicing the ways of being a dark knight, but ultimately favored casting and turned to be a black mage. A little bit of physical exercise wouldn't hurt now and again though for Comet's sake. Not the best with faces, so they don't remember the Dark Knight at all but events on the other hand are another story.
That's where you come in!
Your Dark knight can be whatever you want! I do prefer writing in the 3rd person, anything outside of that is a dealbreaker to me.
Decided to redo a little bit of it to fit more with what I wanted originally. I’m still debating on whether Comet has a deranged twin out there that wants them dead, or just a deranged black mage out there who wants the moniker Comet. Could be something as crazy as maybe a shapeshifter that’s stalking Comet to try and body snatch them.

I only roleplay on reddit and multi-paragraphs are alright! We all have our good and bad days. I hope you're okay with OOC stuff, sometimes I just feel like chatting and asking how you're doing.
Let me know if you have any ideas to incorporate into this roleplay. Please provide a description of your character.
