The House of Companionship was one of the larger prefab structures in Grand Plain, a permanent village of the star people. It reminded Obazi of something a human had called a tool box – chunky and rectangular but with rounded edges. The walls were a thick, hard material called plastic, and although there were obvious seams where the walls had been fitted together, they didn't seem able to break apart.

A handful of these boxy prefabs faced a single dirt road that ran through the center of the village. Some single level, a few with upper storeys, like the House. Rain collection units, solar panels, satellite dishes, and back-up generators cluttered the roofs. There were also a few single person huts shaped like capsules planted end-up in the dirt.

The village was all bland tones of gray and dirt-streaked white, with vibrant yellow highlights. Obazi stood with her back against her temporary home, one knee bent to brace a paw against the wall. She clutched her arms around herself, cupping her elbows. The plain for which this village had been named stretched on and on until it disappeared into a shimmering haze that obscured the point where the land dropped off into a gorge. An intermittent breeze rippled across thick tufts of silvergrass, the blades flashing between dusky violet and silver. The plain was not endless grass, though. Rocky outcrops and buttes, red-white-ochre striated stone, regularly broke the view, and delwhi three or four times the height of a man grew in thin smatterings. These were chalk-white, tubular plants with dense, fibrous flesh wider at their tops than at their bases. The top was dish-shaped to hold water so that it could be absorbed. Humans called them cacti, although they looked nothing like pictures of Earth cacti that Obazi had been shown.

Obazi was one of the seven Ha'afassi women currently living in Grand Plain. To the human eye she was ostensibly a big cat in human form, with the broad blunt muzzle, the wide cheekbones, the rounded ears and the sloping, gently lobed forehead of a lion. She was pale yellowy-cream on most of her body, but strawberry blonde stripes and ticks painted her from buttocks to knees. The same colors banded her tail.

Her people were a few inches shorter than humans on average but more densely muscled. Obazi was no different. She was a strong hunter herself, with thick wrists and an upper body bulking with lean muscle, although a pad of fat smoothed away the harder angles on her hips and buttocks, gently rounding her hips and softening her form compared to her male counterparts. Her belly pouched out slightly. The fur here was thinner, tinged with pink by the skin underneath, so soft that one could imagine that flesh indenting beneath the slight pressure of one's fingers. Her breasts drooped into bottom-heavy teardrops, slightly upturned nipples hidden in fur.

Ha'afassi women and men alike usually went bare-chested, but now Obazi wore the dress she'd received from one of the Christian missionaries – bright teal with red floral print, a plunging neckline, no sleeves. It had been given to her for free, for no reason, sliding out of a machine perfectly tailored to her muscular frame and 5'5” height. It was beautifully colored but it still felt uncomfortable to be dressed like one of them. Would a human husband like her more this way?

She hoped.

Sam Pratchett, who owned The House of Companionship told her that she wasn't supposed to be here. If a woman applied to the marriage service they had to stay in their own village until someone answered and then a car would be sent; he couldn't just keep her here. The other Ha'afassi women all worked for their board, and their work was being fucked by the men in town or from the nearby homesteads. Amelia Gibson the missionary had pleaded with the man on Obazi's behalf until he'd relented, saying, okay, she can stay here a week.

A watery dread churned in her guts. So much could go wrong. Amelia Gibson had taken Obazi away in the mission's vehicle, another boxy plastic machine with heavy rubber tires that helped it crawl across the roadless prairies. Amelia told the other humans and the village elders they were headed for Skylark town when in fact they traveled three times the distance to a different human village Obazi had never been in before. By now they must realize the subterfuge and would be looking. How long before someone came? Would it be before or after Sam Pratchett began demanding Obazi be useful?

Obazi's face and name were flying invisible through the air all around the world into computer screens for men to examine as if she were a keffi with its mouth forced open for the teeth to be inspected, but there were a lot of Ha'afassi women who wanted human husbands – or so she'd been told. They wanted pretty printed garments that came out of machines and cool domes that never leaked to sleep within, but not many human men wanted Ha'afassi wives. Her brow furrowed unconsciously with these thoughts. She was staring at a single point in the distance, too consumed by dread to notice any part of her surroundings.

In this setting, human colonists have arrived on a planet that, while not perfectly ideal for farming, is at least habitable. It is an attractive alternative to an overcrowded Earth. Colonists typically live in small villages as described above or in private homesteading domes near the land they farm with drones. Land is cheap when it doesn't really belong to your people and there's just so much of it to go around.

This planet was already inhabited by the Ha'afassi, a race of catlike people who, compared to humans, live much more primitively. Missionaries and anthropologists have made contact with the Ha'afassi, and relations with humans generally range from neutral to good. My character is on the run from a bad situation in her home village, and does not really want a human husband, but sees it as the only solution to her problem.

In this roleplay I'd love to explore our characters slowly falling in love despite the awkwardness of an arranged marriage. I like flirting, foreplay, body rubs, kissing, lots of romantic scenes and character growth. My “type” that I'm most attracted to are men with average bodies in the 40-60 age range, with realistic personality flaws. I am more than willing to tailor my character's personality and physical attributes to suit your tastes, within reason. I appreciate partners willing to do the same.

I prefer to reply more than once a day. 2-3 replies per day would be ideal, but I understand life gets in the way. I usually write 2-5 paragraphs, or 150-450 words per post. This starter is much longer than my typical post length, but my lengths vary according to need. If I'm introducing a new character or setting a scene, my post might go up to 1,000 words.
