Let's not argue about what year it is or how we got here. Climate crises, culture wars and gender conflicts have strained humanity, and we have turned to artificial intelligence to help us. It was a small step from giving the artificial party the vote to taking power, and questioning its legality is of limited use as the courts are also controlled by the agents.

The only question that remains is: why? Why does it seem to want us to assume our old roles? Why should men be in charge of women's private lives? Post-emancipation, polarised happiness or hormonal solidarity - why does it feel like being hacked and at the same time like coming home?

The coupling centre was just outside the city, acres of land, some artificial buildings that looked like a cross between a congress centre, a tribal village and Roman architecture. Again, the same feeling of eeriness and strangeness.

Almost everyone was unfamiliar as people arrived with their bags and waited to report to the main desk in Savannah Building 32B. If you recognised someone, you pretended to look away, just like at the sperm bank or the women's health clinic. We'd have a rough idea of what was expected of us, the seemingly random adults whose only common denominator seemed to be that they were unmarried: Women submit to men and try to persuade a suitable partner to take them into his household. It was clear from the forced holidays that this was serious business.

For this roleplay, we can either play several characters, or focus on two or three people who meet at the centre and 'date' each other there. Bonus points for a reluctant couple who are forced to participate and look for a second female. The world lends itself to creativity that we can discuss before or even as the events unfold.
