It was our summer works night out, but unfortunately I’d turned up late as I was playing footy through the day. By time I got there, one of the lads in my department was already wrecked and making an arse of himself. I was the manager of the team so I guess I felt a bit of responsibility for him and decided I’d get him up the road before I’d even managed a beer myself! I also knew his Mrs was pregnant as he’d requested various days off for scans etc. so I reckoned she could do without dealing with him in an even more pissed up state! I’d only met her the once before at a works open day and if memory recalled, she was a pretty little thing and seemed quite flirtatious, so always happy to help a damsel in distress….
