I was 19 when I won an online giveaway contest. For the prize, I could pick one of a series of experiences. You'd pick the category (romantic holiday, cruise, radical sports, nature and wildlife, etc etc) and then the actual experience would be selected at random by the company, like a spinning wheel.
I was living by myself and had no one I could share the experience with, so I decided to pick whatever I really wanted (up until then, my vacations were always with my family or friends).
I picked the cruise because I had always wanted to do one and could never afford it.
The virtual spinning wheel went round and round, and I got a 1 week cruise around the Caribbean. "G Enterprise - An unprecedented experience for newcomers".
The name of the cruise was kind of weird, but I went along. I got a confirmation email, had to fill in some data, and received some suggestions on what to take with me (the usual cruise luggage).
What I didn't know was that the cruise was mostly for gay people, and had a quite open minded environment. I would only find out when we sailed.
