I have a demanding job and a lot of responsibility—some of which I may have imposed on myself, as I’ve always been the A-grade student, the overachiever. After a bit of a rough patch at work, I was feeling stressed out and a bit without direction for the first time in my life. That is when I heard of a holistic therapist and life coach that specialises in young professional women. I didn't pay much mind to that as it made my bullshit detector go off, but after some time, I figured: "why the hell not".

The first sessions were interesting. The man, who was old enough to be my dad, promised a new and holistic approach to help me. For this, he would need my earnest cooperation by sharing with him every detail of my life, my goals and my dreams. Since I thought I lacked a clear goal, he offered to provide me with a temporary one. "One most always be aiming for something. Even if one changes their mind later, and makes a course correction" he said. He also said that part of his job would be to hold me accountable for my progress in achieving my goals.

The sessions were way longer that what a regular therapist would provide. They all started with me updating him a bit about my week, and then came the less unorthodox part: I would fully undress in front of him as he would continue to ask me questions about my week and what I had been doing in order to reach my goals. He would also inspect my body and weight me. After that, if he was satisfied with my progress, I would lay down fully naked on a tatami and he would massage my entire body, finishing the massage by fingering and edging me while sometimes asking me about my sex life. If my progress was not deemed sufficient, I would get a spanking.

Now, I realise that this violated every sort of therapy ethical standards, but the thing was: I could not disagree with the results.
