Females have dressed up since the dawn of time. The first necklaces date back millennia and you can just imagine what other deceptions have been used that left no trace in history. Like charcoal eyeliners, fur bras or bamboo skirts.

It’s not foreign to us nowadays: lipstick reddens the lips, presenting a healthy vagina. High heels lengthen the legs, adding a sway to the hips. Piercings provide additional visual and physical stimulation.

The way you wear your hair, cut your nails or shave your legs has diverse cultural implications, matching you to peer groups while differentiating from others. Moreover, clothes display societal function and status, equalizing like volleyball shorts or individualizing like bare bellied shirts on a festival.

Dressing rules have been political as well: from colors of the factions of sports teams in historic Rome, different forms of hijabs in the Arab world to naked protests against climate change.

Weaving the thread to the hemline, I wonder about possibilities for dress codes and subcultures to expose females beauty. A uniform, however cut and colored, is a challenge to visually differentiate yourself by adding colorful headbands, wearing them extra tight or even roll up your sleeves.

How can the dress code be formalized? Some ideas I have circle around wearing the color of your person responsible, adding flags, crests and, again, personalized colors.

What if a female in her fertile days has to sport a red ribbon around her waist? What if your relationship status was displayed by the rings on your fingers?

What if a new youth culture emerges, reducing the amounts of clothes in public as radical as possible? With a subgroup adding glitter all over there bodies?

What if a brand decides to heed the trend of bra-free nipples showing through the shirts by thinning out the cloth in that area, shifting to more and more transparent styles until a circle around that area completely diminishes?
