There's a lot of good reasons to be on birth control. Especially if you don't want to be a mother - or certainly don't want it with the guys you're sleeping with. But there are side effects from hormonal medicine, and it's a hassle having to remember to take a pill. So maybe it's easier not to.
There's a lot of good reasons to use condoms too. In particular if you are sleeping with people you shouldn't be. But in the heat of the moment, sometimes they are the last thing on our minds.
