Rushpoint Incorporated had quite a similar story as my own career within it. They had burst onto the corporate world from seemingly nowhere and found wild success. Their purpose is simple, take the hell that is public transport and fix it. This didn't mean that we just made a few bus routes efficient, it went beyond that. From efficiency models to even assisting in road repair, we would swoop in and do better than anyone else could hope for.

So that's where I come in. I started in Rushpoint's second year of operation as an intern. Simple work, pushing buttons, organizing papers, and just general busy work. It wasn't pleasant, but I was told in no uncertain terms that remarkable performances would be rewarded. In my case, I put my all into everything. Beyond general effort, I also made an attempt to learn as much as I could and offered advice and assistance wherever I could. Normally this would probably get me chewed out, but the Director of Operations took quite a liking to me because of it. In my third year I was taken by shock as he was promoted himself and had requested to leave his position to me. I accepted without question. He clearly believed in me, and I would be a fool to turn down such an offer.

All was well through my first year for two reasons. The first was that I was given a fair bit of leeway. The higher ups knew what I was thrown into and were understanding of any shortcomings I may have. The second, was my secretary. A kindly old woman who had been doing this type of work longer than I was alive. She helped me far more than I could have imagined and was probably the only thing keeping me sane that whole first year.

Unfortunately, she retired quite unexpectedly and I was left unassisted. Two problems came with this. One, I was absolutely overwhelmed without a secretary. I began working so much overtime that it was no secret I had began staying in my office some nights. The second, was that some odd mixup left it to where I was stuck without a secretary for at least a month. This month, quickly became three.

Finally I had some respite though, as things began to get dire, we finally had a candidate. HR handled all the interview processes and you were the only one that they deemed worthy of going in for a final interview with me. Honestly I couldn't be happier...

There you have it, the classic secretary plot. I've been pushed up the power chain far too quickly and it's on you to keep me going. Will you though? Naturally, you'll be perfectly fine at the job, but beyond that. Will you be doting and guide me to a healthier work balance while taking care of my extra stress? Or will you use your charms to make me extra dependent on you, so much so that I can't even function if I haven't had your touch that day?
