Before Dimension 20 I thought that only extremely long campaigns like Critical Role were THE way to play D&D, but since Dimension 20 came out I realized just how incredibly versatile the medium of the TTRPG can be, and just how truly unlimited the options can be to play.
I loved all of them, but a few seasons that really stand out to illustrate just how vast the possibilities can be, have been:
Fantasy High, which also helped to teach me the game originally as well.
Mice and Murder! Such an awesome murder mystery game!
A Crown of Candy!!! Such an amazing mix of political intrigue, unique setting, yet still balancing the silliness of a comedy show.
A Court of Fey and Flowers! I had seen Aabria do a regency game before on youtube as well, so I knew about the mechanics of reputation and epistolary phase and etc. But the depth and breadth of those characters in such a limited amount of time, and telling such a great story even with so little combat, where the stakes never felt stale or flat? Amazing! I loved it so much!
And finally, Tiny Heist! They nailed the heist movie vibe so well, and the idea of blending Toy Story meets Ocean's Eleven and all of it being a D&D game?!? Wild. Wonderful. Truly an excellent time, especially for one of the sidequests, which have such a limited time to do their run.
I love this show a lot and really appreciate all the work that goes into making the games as good as they are.
