I have a small online shop that's been in operation for three years but I'm struggling to really get profitable and I'm convinced that marketing is my Achilles heel. I also have a full time day job and that prevents me from really working on marketing the shop as much as I need to. But also because I can't drop the day job yet (I need the full time salary), I don't think it would be fair to hire someone else to work on my shop full time when I can't dedicate that much time to it. So I think I need to hire a part time (say, 10-20 hours/week) marketer next year.
I've done some internet research into salaries and they're kind of all over the place. I see a full time salary would be somewhere around $80K depending on location, so I guess part time would be roughly half that. But I don't necessarily need someone in my location, this kind of job can be done remotely, which also makes estimating a reasonable wage difficult. So here I am, asking people who do that work. What should I budget for to hire a part time marketer next year?
Here are the things I will want them to do:
- manage social media posts, boosted posts and paid ads
- advise me on what social media platforms work best for my shop
- manage google analytics to help me make sure the ads are working
- design ads and advise me on what works and what doesn't when I write copy
