Age 38, M 5'5", Latino, Los Angeles area, CA. Been having these symptoms for a 1 1/2 years.
It started with fatigue in July of 2019. Just out of nowhere, I felt tired. Then, randomly, that same night, I had the sweats and shaking. That disappeared afterwards, but the fatigue still persisted. It went away for a couple of months, but the fatigue slightly came back. Also, I started to feel a bit lightheaded. In october of 2019, the fatigue came back with a vengeance. If I went to a store, I would get this weird feeling as if I am going to pass out unless I lied down. I would also get insomnia. I would need to lie down at times because if I sat up to eat, I would get worn out quick. When I was working around November to December of that year, I would get these weird sweaty hot flashes.
In January of 2020, I got this excruciating knee pain on my left leg that was so crippling I could barely walk. I went to a chiropractor who described something that a person my age should not be having. That would be more for advanced age. He gave me remedies for the pain and it worked. However, I couldn’t keep up with him due to closure from the pandemic in March of 2020. By that time, I started noticing newer symptoms. I had this weird buzzing feeling like an internal vibrating sensation. It was followed by fatigue, partial insomnia, some lightheadedness, sensitivity to light and what felt like some food sensitivity to bread. And my fatigue can be debilitating for me at times. It makes it difficult for me to shower at times, or sitting to eat would be difficult for me. I would have to lie down afterwards. This is why I haven’t gotten a haircut in a long time, because of the difficulty sitting still and the tiredness afterwards. Cleaning my house can wear me out at times as well. I would have to lie down 30 minutes into the task, for example. Also, it would be difficult for me to read a book, watch tv or play a video game and I used to be a binge watcher before this happened. Another thing I noticed was that when I would consume a beer, my heart would beat fast, I would feel a bit disoriented and would need to sit or lie down after a few sips. I am a beer drinker, I admit it. I love beer just as much as the next guy. I also noticed I am peeing more, but i think it might be both from drinking caffeinated soda and the cold weather as I do not have heating in my home and we have cold air.
I tried everything, from quitting soda and sugary snacks to reintroducing them. I also tried eating healthier, drinking more water, drinking tea, exercising, meditating, and supplements. All to no avail. I take a 1 a day everyday along with 1000 iu of vitamin d and 1 magnesium citrate pill containing 100mg. I went to doctors for blood tests and my panel came back normal. Kidneys are normal, heart is normal, blood sugar normal and my ekg came back normal. My doctor stated that I have anxiety even before he did a blood panel. I am having a hard time believing that as I believe that anxiety is a symptom and not a disease itself, especially having said symptoms.
My guess is that based on these symptoms I feel that it’s either mono (never had or been diagnosed with mononucleosis in my life), lyme disease (i noticed some of my symptoms, including fatigue, are similar to lyme and I do recall having some mosquito bites from outdoors prior to my symptoms), mold infection (noticeably, these symptoms occur at home and usually not outdoors when I am walking, although the symptoms occur there too on occasion), shingles (i did notice a rash and some bumps near my chest area), gluten/food intolerance, or an unsuspecting virus. I currently don’t work because if i were to work, i would easily get worn out and fatigued.
This is what I can describe as much as possible. Any other questions or specifics, please let me know.
