Help understanding Viral vs Bacterial tonsillitis
Post Body

Hello,

I've been having a flu for a week and a half that morphed into the worst tonsillitis I've ever had. Excruciating pain even swallowing saliva, there's thrush (a white coat) all over my tongue, there's white pustules all over my tonsils, and strands of mucus or phlegm coming off.

I went to the urgent care where they did the strep test, which was negative. Therefore, the doctor diagnosed me with viral tonsillitis and said that it was unrelated to my flu and I caught it "from somewhere else" even though I've been house-ridden for a week now.

Please help tell me if I've been misdiagnosed- the pain is so bad I can't eat or drink anything or even sleep.
