I finally watched New Blood.

Post Body

My anticipation outgrew after reading many good and bad comments about it. Was I disappointed? Yes, very. And while I won't go into too many details about plot holes or the story, I want to list the minor, stupid, and little things that I liked and disliked about the show.

Episode opening: Perhaps irrelevant, but the name of the episode integrated into the scenes, the icy texture, and the quick, fast-forward sequence were appealing and helped build some expectations.

Molly: Her investigative role as a podcaster triggered Harrison's memories, leading him to snap. However, if there was still room for her in the show, there was no need to make that character so annoying and unbearable to watch.

Deb: Jennifer is a super-talented actress, and she was great in her portrayal as Deb in Dexter. However, her role in New Blood as the bullying, rambunctious, annoying, slapstick ghost was a disappointment. It felt like a waste of her potential.

Fredric - Aka "wealthy old man": What even? The guy plays as a distraction to prevent the viewer from figuring out who the psycho is. And then what? The guy has three scenes and three lines. Then, gone. Not much of a decoy to me.

Harrison: I'll stay away from the obvious about the character. The critique goes to the writers and their lack of research. I know I shouldn't care. It's a work of fiction, but I can't let this one go as a Spanish speaker. Harrison lived in Argentina for ten years. TEN!

Episode three. Harrison: ¿De donde eres? (Where are you from?) That's a neutral form of Spanish. In Argentinian variant it is: ¿De donde sos?

Episode eight. Harrison: "Gracias. Para todo." (Thank you for everything.) When it should be "Gracias por todo."

End of Spanish lesson.

Batista: It was good to see the old man again. His contribution could've been much more relevant. What a wasted opportunity.

I don't regret watching the series. It had good instances but seemed rushed, and the ending was... well. You know.

That's a whole post altogether.
