How would you want a Final Series of Dexter to end?

Post New Blood.

My idea:

Limited Series Courtroom Drama following Dexter’s Trial. Starts with pre-season 1 with Dexter’s childhood and teenage years, with Vogel and Harry’s Code. Then Dexter meticulously remembers each kill (I think he’d remember or at least the Dark Passenger does), he has a Punisher moment (Season 2 of Daredevil) except he’s calm but a switch flips. Groupies gather and it’s similar to the daydream of everyone celebrating him but this time it’s real. The middle episode follows his relationship with Rita and how he used her as a cover but grew to care for her children and ultimately got her killed (maybe you have them testify or Harrison killed them offscreen). The following episode recounts the main villains and how he manipulated Debra into becoming a murderer. Depending on how they wanted the series to end, Dexter could get the original ending with him on the Chair and each of his kills watching him die or you end it in another he could return ending with him in a ward on so many sedatives that he can’t really move but he’s happy because he can’t hear the Dark Passenger anymore and leave it open to a return.

Have the series discuss the philosophical idea of Nature vs Nurture, was he made or was he always going to be this way.

Plot Ideas they could include:

The Cult of Dexter: A group of vigilantes that murder in his name (primarily criminals). The Groupies of Dexter: A group that fuels the Dark Passenger. The Prison Life of Dexter: Dexter has to defend himself against criminals (maybe Brother Sam has friends that remember Dexter and they look out for him). Dexter is found Not Guilty but ends up on Harrison’s table.

Plot twists that they could do but probably shouldn’t:

Doakes is alive (somehow) Hannah isn’t actually dead and testifies against Dexter (with immunity again).
