Since 3.0 is officially upon us, I think it's the best time to make suggestions that have a chance of being implemented. Thus, I'm suggesting 3 tiers of bastions.
Disclaimer - All numbers are tentitive or all out wrong. I'm promoting a general idea here, not specifications.
Vault - small expensive bastion intended for vaults. Same as what we have now, nuff said.
City - cost and size scaled to claim medium/large cities with some time and effort. 20-30 block radius.
Claims - Really cheap large range (30-50 block radius, not sure) bastions that break in 200-500 hits (not sure on this one, just weak enough to be broken by a single player in not much time).
I really want to sell you guys on the Claims bastion. My idea for claims bastions is for them to be remarkably cheap - cheap enough to where the majority (if not the entirity) of the land can be claimed within a few months. These bastions are NOT intended to provide effective protection of your land, since they are so easily created and broken. Rather, they are intended to create physical land claims and borders for existing nations - and to allow new or aggressive nations to claim/steal land in a short period of time. This should lead to border conflict and active takeover situations - a dynamic that Devoted has been missing.
