[META] Not everything can be a meme, please stop

Post Body

The use of the word "meme" is so far gone from the actual meaning of the word that most active players are taking it to mean "lying for the lulz".

You guys aren't being funny, and it's gotten so bad almost no one can tell if something is for real or not. I like inside jokes and pranks when I'm with close friends, but it's getting impossible to communicate because every damn thing might be a "meme".

Case in point, Cassiopeia shitposted about Arbo, Arbo shitposted back, Cassiopeia half-shitpost back and now the leadership is really confused about what anyone wants.

Politics are hard enough when everyone speaks the same language and says exactly what they want. What we have might be the first 30-person ongoing shitpost I've ever seen.

So I have a proposal.

First, stop calling lying "memeing". A meme is a bit of relatable information between people, like a inside joke. Nothing that I've seen the last week called a "meme" comes anywhere close to that definition. If people are lying to try and be funny, it's not a "meme" it's just being shitty.

Second, if we're serious about being a political civilization experiment, we've got to stop being so exclusive to new players. We have a very toxic environment for communication, primarily because everything feels like a cruel inside joke. Stop it. Sadly, the next bit is necessary otherwise people won't take this post seriously:

I am offering a 20 diamond bounty on the first person to "meme" in the comments or "meme" about this post, and I plan to keep the pearl of said person permanently imprisoned. If you agree that this should be something we talk about honestly as a community, then help me enforce this as a deterrent. I don't want to permapearl anyone, I want to have an honest discussion about the community without anyone being shitty about it.

And I'm not saying all inside jokes have to stop, but it's bad enough now that even long-time players are getting confused. Tone it down.
