Post Body

I didn't see a thread for this so... here's a huge wall of text. :)

Achievement wise: 46/49 on my first playthrough.

I missed:

Doctorate: Regardless of me spending 47 hours deliberately hunting for everything, I missed a few :(. I didn't have a list of their locations until my second visit to Hengsha, and I had already missed 1 in Detroit, and 1 in TYM.

Talion A.D.: I have no clue. At all. I get the feeling that it was a fourth Merc, based on the picture... but I never came across a side quest or anything, so... I don't know.

The Last Straw: Both times I opened the door to his safehouse, he went hostile. I didn't kill him, figuring I'd encounter him again later, but alas, it was not the case. :(

So, I loved the game. Most of the time. I wish the weapon upgrades were more... here's a bunch of things, upgrade the stats/functions you want, instead of there's a shit ton of upgrades, but only 3 will work with the one or 2 guns you're actually going to carry. I mean, during the stealth playthrough, you're using the Stungun (which got nothing) and Tranq rifle, and the Rifle mainly got reload speed increases (which, imo, could have been an Aug). However, it did get the bitchin' target leading mod, which was, to reiterate, bitchin'. I carried that POS PEPS rifle forever, and I hate it. I don't know why I carried it. Because it was non lethal? shrugs. No mods, that I remember using, and I never really found it useful.

I hated not having some sort of storage, at his apartment or on the Helicopter, or the ability to buy things back from merchants.

One thing that really bothered me, and maybe it was just me, but that 90% of the people in the Deus Ex world seem to believe and define humanity as being not Augmented. That our beliefs, culture, hopes, goals, ideas, feelings, etc, aren't what define us as human. I mean... really, how is a prosthetic arm any different than a pace maker? I agree people shouldn't go around and willingly mutilate themselves for "superior" upgrades, but ultimately, it's their choice.

What I really loved is that at the end, with the exception of Darrow, I could agree with 3 of the 4 choices.

I totally feel that development of tech is important. If Sarif hadn't lied and lied and lied, and than tried to get me to lie FOR him, I wouldn't have minded siding with him. Darrow... eh. We've had atomic weapons for some time, and managed to not doom ourselves yet. Augmentation, in his context, shouldn't be treated any differently than every other weapon we've ever created. Just like any other weapon, they obviously have the potential for abuse, but unlike general weapons, they have the potential to improve peoples lives and society. Taggart/Illuminati seemed to be the best choice, I feel. The tech would be continued to developed, and there would be restrictions. Like weapons. Hopefully, of course, built in to the tech, not mind control chips. Blowing up Myself, countless indivdual workers, who I carefully stunned into unconsciousness, Sarif, who may have been a dick, but was maybe kind of still a friend(?) and that lovely person who just happened to hole up to be able to sell me some Praxis Kits, and failing to let people know what happened, was kind of a big downer, but the whole choice in the hands of the people thing was kind of nice... Ultimately, I would have been happy to tell THE TRUTH, wich didn't seem to be an option, for some reason.

Well... Sorry for the wall of text. I haven't slept... and I've done nothing but play DE:HR for my last 3 days of consciousness. I'm sure there's much much more I wanted to talk about at one point or another, but I'm too sleepy to remember.

Finally, my favorite screenshot from my playthrough.

What did everyone else think? How did everyone else do, Achievements & Augments-wise?
