Hi everyone, my partner and I are house hunting and personally I'm getting really discouraged with how the market is going so I'm trying to expand our search area a bit. I'm hoping to get some feedback from some residents around Livonia, Redford, and Westland mostly.
We're not locals so our general understanding of the area can be limited. A lot of the advice we've gotten has been great from our friends, but some of my uhhh hillbilly-northern-Oakland-county-never-actually-lived-in-Wayne peers have really low opinions of the towns bordering the city and I'm not sure they are being represented accurately.
Livonia I have a pretty good handle on, but I'm curious about Redford Charter Township and Westland. How would you characterize the neighborhood? Is there a lot of crime in some areas? We don't specifically care about the schools as we don't have kids, but how are the schools sectioned and would that impact your decision to live in a certain place?
Are these neighborhoods experiencing gentrification or a migration of a specific demographic? Are you happy in your neighborhood? Are your property values changing? Do you like your neighbors? How are the public services and utilities?
Thanks in advance.
