Post Body

First, just want to confirm both exotics come from the completing the new Legend/Master lost sectors while Solo though they are not guaranteed to drop on a clear. Bakris took me 10 tries on the 1050 Lost Sector and Athrys's Embrace only took two so your luck may vary.

As for the Exotics themselves, Bakris is an interesting one.

  1. It only works on Stasis Subclasses
  2. It has an inherent 10 Second cooldown after use
  3. Class Ability does not start to recharge until after 10 seconds
  4. Shifting increases Arc weapon damage by 10% in PvE, currently does not buff in PvP though this may be a bug.
  5. The shift ability does trigger Marksman's/Gambler's Dodge

All in all, this is an exotic that doesn't seem nearly as crazy as the trailers led many to believe. The shift lunge is certainly big but it is a hefty price to exchange for a minimum 20 second cooldown. This exotic really turns your dodge into a highly defensive reactionary option, rather than an offensive one in my opinion. You can shift in any direction, so being able to essentially teleport backwards or behind cover can save your hide in close engagements. As for using it Offensively, I think some people will be able to utilize it in PvP by going full ninja teleporting behind you and utilizing a shotgun to catch people by surprise, but I feel like in most encounters a normal dodge would've gotten the job done just fine. This is going to be a "feel" exotic for a lot of people and I think you'll either swear by it or never use it, don't see much middle ground.

Athrys's Embrace:

If there was an award for "exotic I didn't expect to like as much as I do", it would go to this one. LEt's go over what it does:

  1. Rapid precision hits with your WEAPON, give Weighted Knife a significant damage increase
  2. Weighted Knife now ricochet's twice
  3. Weighted Knife can now Stagger Unstoppable Champions with the buff active

I feel like many people overlooked this since the double ricochet seemed to be the selling point, but the damage is seriously no joke.

The buff activates by getting 3 rapid precision hits with any weapon. On the third precision hit, you receive a 10 second buff to knife damage. Every precision hit you get after the buff is active, extends the duration of the buff by 5 seconds, capping out at 30 seconds. The extending hits don't have to be rapid either. You could stack up to 30, let it fall to 15, get a single precision hit, and go back up to 20 for example. As for the damage itself, it seems to be a little over 3x damage. I tested this on the Atherion's Abyss Lost Sector boss (at 1224 Light) and hit around 10k precision knife damage without the buff, and 32k precision knife damage with the buff active. This damage allows you to simply chunk the crap out of major targets and when combined with Monte Carlo/Gambler's Dodge, you can chain some pretty nasty combos together.

PvP Note: With the buff active, Weighted Knife will one shot body shot Guardians. Someone a bit more well versed in PvP may have to do testing to see what it can and can't kill in terms of resilience values and supers and such, but all the times I tried it on normal opponents, it one shot anywhere I hit them and took a major chunk out of most supers I was able to hit, though I didn't manage to precision hit a super so it may or may not be able to kill some of them, hoping someone out there can clear this up a bit with more testing.

Important Note However: While the Knife will still recharge instantly on a precision knife kill due to Knife Juggler, the buff will disappear on a knife kill. Therefore, after killing a target with the knife, you will need to get precision hits with your weapon to gain the buff back.

All in all, both these exotics are a bit niche since they're so specialized, but I've had a ton of fun messing with both of them. Hope reading this helps a bit and good luck to those farming for them!
