I picked up D1 very very late into its life, as in like a week before D2 released on the whim of a friendās request so we could play together. Played up to the Rise of Iron campaign and then stopped for a few months, then bull rushed through the RoI campaign just to get through it and not āmissā any content. I never played any of the raids or crucible, I just kept myself to the patrols, story missions, and strikes.
I got D2 base game when it was free several months back and Iām thinking of buying Forsaken/the annual pass so I can catch up and hopefully get back into this series. I have a threadbare understanding of the general story/plot (origins of traveler and the current world, other races like cabal, fallen, etc, and the general story of Forsaken) but I feel like I missed out on a lot of lore and gameplay by not paying enough attention in D1. I didnāt pay much mind to the grimoire cards/system and in terms of gameplay I just slapped together a build based on whatever was fun.
What are some of the highlights/changes made to D2 that are noteworthy for a returning player?
