Iron Banner was a cruial element for most players in the leveling up process during the lifetime of D1. Speaking for myself, it was really exciting to know that i'd see some sort of growth by the end of the week.

This aspect of Iron Banner was needlessly removed in D2. Along with that so to went most of my desire to play iron banner once I got all the weapons i wanted. I still grinded iron banner in D1 even if the weapons that week were total trash because of the ability to get high level gear.

I'm totally cool with the upcoming changes on the whole. You shouldn't be able to hit max light by not playing the game. I still think this is the perfect opportunity to return iron banner to it's former glory. Hell even bringing back just rank packages would help. Give solo players something that they can grind even if it's only for a week a month.

Edit-I'm pretty bad at all that grammar stuff. I don't mean it should be the only way for solo players to get to max. It should be a way and it should be part of the endgame process in a much larger way than it currently is. Apologies if my lousy wording caused confusion.
