These are my pointless opinions on the state of weapon balancing in the crucible and suggested changes using a 1-10 distance reference. 1 being point blank and 10 being across map.
Primaries:
Hand Cannons: I believe that they are in good place as of now (Legendary wise) as they require a bit more skill to land each shot and are best used in close-mid to far-mid (3-5) ranged engagements. Thorn and The Last Word were perfect at 2.0 stats and should be reverted to such.
Auto Rifles: Are in a good place but the two archetypes are woefully unbalanced. Doctrine of Passing type weapons should not be effective at a deep-mid (6) range engagements and should only be effective in short bursts beyond mid (4) ranged engagements as that arcetype is best suited for CQC to mid (2-4.5) ranged engagements. Suros Regime type weapons are where they should be in the 2.75-5.5 range with only being effective in bursts at the far end. Both types should be brought inline with one another though so they have similar times to kill though.
Pulse Rifles: Good place as of now in the close-ish mid to deep-mid range (3.5-6) range but I would like to see the rounds in each of the pulses to be closer together as to have a lower the TTK ever-so slightly.
Scout Rifles: Good-ish place right now as they are effective in the mid to far-ish (4-7) range. The only real change I would like to see is a small decrease in the degree at which you flinch upon being hit.
Specials:
Shotguns: Good however rangefinder is still a bit to much like shot package, just reduce its effective range boost ever so slightly.
Snipers: Invert the damage drop-off so that they are ineffective close up but incredibly effective cross map. 3/2 body shots in shotgun range for low/high impact snipers respectively as they should be best used in the deep-mid to cross (Bastion-type) map (6-10) with damage increasing the further out you are as the bullet loses stability, putting a bigger hole in the target.
Fusion Rifles: Minor increase to the stability so more of the bolts actually hit the target.
Side-arms: Good where they are.
Heavy:Whats to say, maybe just decrease the amount upon pick-up in some playlists (like less machine gun ammo in rumble as you can really run away with it and no heavy in non-elimination 3v3/2v2 game modes).
Side-note switching secondarys should reset your ammo to zero and res-sniping should not really be a thing allow the resee to have mobility upon being revived so they can crouch/slide/shade-step/something to avoid the snipe.
