Post Body

With all the new Grimoire released, I decided to read through the books of sorrows. The contents are extremely exciting lore-wise, and seem to indicate that the Hive's Gods are in fact the very same Ahamkara that we wear on our heads. The Grimoire that alludes to this the most (that I've found so far) is

IX - The Bargain

I am Yul, the Honest Worm.

Behold my passage. Behold my vast displacement, my ponderous strength, my great and coiling length, my folded jaws and curled wings. Behold the hiving cities symbiotic with my flesh. I am fecund, Aurash. I am at the beginning and end of lives.

Behold Eir, and Xol, and Ur, and Akka. The Virtuous Worms. Look upon us, and know that We are go[o]d.

Ok, so we already knew that. (Aside from the name Akka, that's new as far as I know) so what's the big deal? Well now that we know the being or beings these sisters are communicating with is/are the Hive Gods. Guess what the worm(s) also say?

In Book V - Needle and Worm the narrator, a young Oryx says this:

It’s dead, but it still speaks to me. It says: listen closely, oh vengeance mine...

Now who do we know that speak to people using odd possessiveness after they're already dead? Ahamkara baby.

Another example from Book XII - Out of the Deep

Reality is a fine flesh, oh general ours. Let us feast of it.

That sounds especially familiar.

The flavor text for Skull of Dire Ahamkara reads:

Reality is the finest flesh, oh bearer mine. And are you not…hungry?

I'd say it's pretty much confirmed the Ahamkara were directly involved in the creation of the Hive. Now, what's odd is that while Yul does reference spreading his wings he is always described as a worm, and the symbiotic (or parasitic) beings that were included in the Hive concept art are clearly worms. Does this mean the Magic Space DragonsTM were under the influence of these worms themselves? Or are the Ahamkara something that transcends physical form? Either way, it's pretty clear that the Great Hunt was t even close to removing these things from existence, and they may pose a much greater threat than just being tricksters. Thoughts? Also TTK hype.

I will post more as I read more.

It appears, according to books

XXVI - star by star by star

and

XXVII - Eat the Sky

that this new name, Akka, is the source of Oryx's Taken abilities.
