I sent this story to a friend, he said I should post it here.
"Today I saw something bizarre I'd never seen before. A shadow. A wraith. The crucible round was going as planned. With Shaxx's voice booming in my mind, we were winning this round by a sizeable margin. I leveled my Two To The Morgue against the warlock that charged me and shot him dead. His ghost popped up and sneered at me. In that particular moment, I almost didn't notice the novice hunter who had made his way behind me. My cloak sweeping out behind me, I raised my shotgun to blow him away when he slide behind cover, doubled back, and hit me with his knife. Not bad for a new guy. Too bad his common weapons left much to be desired. In that brief moment before I emptied a shell into his gut, I noticed it. A shimmer, an outline, just behind the hunter. Almost looked like a warlock. As his body fell limp and his ghost appeared, the outline vanished.
I looked to the ghost who offered no explanation, only a hard stare. Putting the thought out of mind, I bowed and taunted the new guy, as is my custom. The new hunter came back again and again, the slight shadow visible for only moments. He wasn't bad. Had promise. The round finished and I sent a message to the hunter saying that if he stayed, maybe he'd learn something.
The next round began, and the hunter wasn't present. In his stead stood a warlock, covered in the spoils of Crota's personal hell. The first time I saw him he blinked into the sky, dove down onto a titan and buried the bayonet of his Plan C deep into the plasteel plating (everyone knows a good blade isn't stopped by that stuff). He pulled the blade out and turned to me. He moved the same way as the hunter, fast, hard, relentless. Before I could even react he pulled a Fang from behind him and began firing. I dodged the first couple rounds but the next volley took me in the hip, shoulder, and lower neck.
I left crucible after that round and went to Cayde for an explanation of what I might have seen. As I began he cut me off and without a word pointed to Ikora. Ikora looked up and began. 'It is not a well understood concept guardian. Many thanatonauts have tried to delve into the mystery with limited results. I myself have experienced this phenomenon, the wraith you speak of. A few weeks ago a young warlock was inquiring about the Vex and Hive, and I almost thought I saw the shadow of a banished guardian standing in the corner. Some warlocks hypothesize that some guardians have alter egos. That one guardian cannot be present when the other is around. I fear I have no definitive answer for you Hunter.'
I think I'm going to try and forget this. I've got more important things to do."
