People seem to be complaining about a lack of content in Destiny; that they're running the same strikes and bounties over and over again. So, what is it that gives an MMO its longevity? MMO's can't be coming up with new content every day/week that makes it last years long, can they? Were other MMO's like WoW super successful right off the bat (in the first month) or did it take a while for it to get established?
Like Bungie said, those who are trying to kick the tires aren't going to get the right experience, but I think there's a difference between taking a nice, long ride and driving through the same cornfields for hours on end.
I see both sides, but my original question still stands: What makes a good MMO? Do good ones go through rough patches before they fully bloom?
