I love the exotics but I really prefer armor style that is grounded similar to D1. And it's hard to get that style when Im using let's say precious scars. It feels too outworldy.

If at some point we are to get rid of power levels. Gear grind would be pointless except stats.

What if there was a slot on the armor piece that allowed an exotic mod to be applied similar to armor mods. But what about the other slots, this could be used for the seasonal mod that seasonal armor normally gives but nobody uses because stats.
