Please remember that these are my opinions

Over the past few days all I've heard from the community is mostly negative comments on Lightfall.

I've been playing destiny since the first games beta, I've bought every expansion and it's fairly safe to say that I enjoy giving Bungie the sloppiest toppy when it comes to criticism. Bungie has put out many sub-par expansions in the past. House of wolves, rise of iron, shadow keep, just to make a few. But what I don't understand is how the community can look at Lightfall and all it accomplished and dish out negativity.

Firstly, strand is fucking awesome. Gameplay wise this is the most fun I've had in a campaign since Taken King. The grapples feel nice, everything synergizes very well, and it's a whole new subclass to explore, which is always welcome.

Second, narratively this expansion is one of the better ones Bungie has put out to date. Cinematics, new characters, overarching plot, this campaign had me on the edge of my seat for most of the time playing it. And while I understand that this expansion did not answer every burning question that our guardians have, I feel it's better to look at this expansion not as a stand alone campaign with its own conclusion, but as the final stepping stone coming into The Final Shape. Looking at this as a Part 1 of the final climax makes all the pieces that fell into place during the campaign hit just that much harder. While we may not know entirely what the Veil is or what the witness is truly after, we have three whole seasons of content, lore, and world building before the final confrontation.

I get everyone has their questions and we want our answers, but all in all I genuinely feel this campaign was just the first part in a much larger whole. In the coming months I hope to see Bungie using these seasons to finish fleshing everything out. I believe that we're in store for a real doozy in the time between now and Final Shape.
