So I try to pay the best attention I can to the lore of destiny. However there are still some questions I have that if anyone here could explain them to me Iād greatly appreciate it.
Itās described that Oryx had to ātakeā the powers of the taken, because the darkness does not give, giving is for the light. Yet at the same time we hear story after story, sometimes with ourselves involved, that the witness/darkness āoffersā guardians powers from the darkness. Now I understand that the whole philosophical point behind ātaking the powers to takeā but it just seemed so engrained in that lore that the light gives, the darkness takes. So why is the witness/darkness essentially giving powers to maybe Calus, Rhulk, Eramis, Lisbon-13, and us when the lore says the darkness requires taking, not giving?
Back in the season of the drifter, we were required to take sides between the drifter and the vanguard. What did this actually do and has there been any reference to it since? I theorized that it would eventually lead to a season of civil war between the light fanatical guardian such as Aunor/Shayura and any darkness wielding guardians. There have been hints in the lore of such inquisitions.
Is it possible that the ācorruptionā subclass based upon necrotic grips, Thorn, and Osteo Striga is a red herring? I understand thereās some evidence that points to this, but even Myelin games has referenced Dredgen Yorās darkness abilities as āwannabeā status and although cool those three weapons can at time be game breaking to some degree. The poison has a history of being overpowered in the game mechanics as it has been toned down here and there. In addition I think mechanically legendary corruption weapons maybe difficult to balance. With the black heart, black garden being glyphs in the Vow of Disciple raid and the Kentarch-3 lore that true darkness powers were offered in the black garden is it possible that the next subclass comes from that rather than the corruption so famously theorized?
Thank you for any answers
